Mazatlan is known for its paradisiacal beaches, warm weather and delicious cuisine, but above all for the great natural wealth it houses, in which all kinds of little-known natural phenomena occur, one of them is Bioluminescence.
During March and April, Mazatlan lights up with this natural effect called bioluminescence, a phenomenon that can be seen at night, when the waves break in the dark and flashes of blue lights are perceived in the dark.
This effect is caused by small microscopic algae in the water that collide with the beach, it is a natural phenomenon that occurs on very few beaches in the world and we are fortunate that our beautiful Mazatlan is one of them.
This phenomenon can sometimes be barely perceptible or not present, depending on the amount of algae that occurs in the area, we recommend you pay close attention on your next visit to Olas Altas, perhaps you can witness this beautiful spectacle.
